Why do people need religion?

I don’t know why people need religion. Nowadays, I just see lots of people who don’t have religion. But when I asked my mom, my mom said “ People seek religion for comfort, guidance, and a sense of meaning in life.”

I don't know why people need religion. In my opinion, religion can make people feel comfortable, and when people are stressed, they will pray for God to give them a wish.

In the past, humans faced natural disasters, but they didn’t understand how these disasters occurred. Without understanding, people were afraid. Religion provided answers for people. It helped to alleviate fear and made them feel comfortable living in a world of unknowns.

For me, it's a tradition that our parents choose the religion for their baby since they born. I'm the one of babies that my parents choose Bhuddhism for my religion. To compare, many Korean citizens don't have religion while almost Thai people have religion. So, the factor that Thai people have religion because of their parents.

In my point of view, I want to say that the importance of religion is to make us be good people because it provides teachings that lead us to believe that if we do good deeds, good things will come into our lives.

Maybe it's because everyone needs something to anchor their minds to. Religion is something that people cling to. As a Buddhist, when I feel uncomfortable, I may pray to make myself feel more at ease. Festivals like New Year's also have New Year's prayers. Therefore, besides being something that holds the mind, it is also a culture that has been practiced for a long time.
